Praseodymium fluoride is an important raw material for the preparation of single rare earth metals by metal thermal reduction, and can be used to prepare plexiglass coatings.  It can also be used in laboratory reagents, optical fiber doping, laser materials, fluorescent materials, optical fiber, optical coating materials, electronic materials and arc carbon rod additives etc.
