    • Nature:

Aluminum fluoride is available as white powder or crystal with relative density of 3.00g/cm3, melting point is 1040℃, boiling point is 1272℃. It is slightly soluble in water, hardly soluble in acid and alkali solution, insoluble in most organic solvents, also insoluble in hydrofluoric acid and liquefied hydrogen fluoride. The property of anhydrous aluminum fluoride is very stable. It doesn’t react with liquid ammonia or concentrated sulfuric acid by heating to fuming and doesn’t changeable when co-melted with potassium hydroxide. It is not reduced by hydrogen and doesn’t decompose through heating but it may sublime. It can be hydrolyzed partly to hydrogen fluoride and aluminum oxide in the vapour of 300-400℃.

      Treatment and disposal methods

      I. Disposal of leakage
We must quarantine the contaminated zone of leakage, erect warning signs around and advice emergency personnel to wear gas mask and chemical-proof suit. Do not direct contact with the leakage. Avoid the dust and collect aluminum fluoride to dry, clean and covered container by clean shovel, then carry them to waste disposal sites.
      II. Protective measures
Respiratory protection: Workers should wear dust mask. Wear gas mask if necessary.
Eye protection:      Wear protective chemical safety glasses.
      Hand protection:     Wear protective gloves.
Others:             Smoking, eating and drinking is prohibited in job site. Take a bath and put on clean clothes after work. We should placed the polluted clothes separately and wash it so as to use next time.
      III. First aid measures:
Skin contact:        Take off the polluted clothes and then wash with water 15 minutes at least immediately.
Eye contact:        In case of contact with eyes, tip the eyelid and rinse with plenty of water 10 minutes or rinse with 5% sodium hydrocarbonate solution.
Inhalation:         Take the sufferer to the place with fresh air.  Keep respiratory tract unobstructed. If breathing is difficulty, administer oxygen. If not breathing, give artificial respiration and obtain immediate medical attention.
Ingestion:          Right the person that takes by accident, use clear water gastric lavage instantly. Obtain medical attention.
Fire-fighting methods: Aluminum fluoride is not readily combustible. Combustible material is available around the scene of a fire.

  • Application
  • Product Specifications

Aluminum fluoride is used as auxiliary ingredient of electrolyte during the production of electrolytic aluminum to decrease the melting point and increase the conductivity of electrolyte. Also, it is a flux for non-ferrous metal, as a zymotic inhibitor in the alcohol and essential oil production and as a fusing assistant for ceramic, enamel and the component of glaze.
